617 have disbanded and reformed twice - http://www.raf.mod.uk/organisation/617squadron.cfm
And it looks like they'll reform again in a couple of years for the F-35 (or F-18 / new Harriers / space hoppers - delete as appropriate).
However I can't see any plans to bring back 12 - although they've come back from the dead 3 times so you never know.
