Any air shows this year with an f15 flying?

I went to RIAT last year and am going a gain this year.

I know the USAF won't be at RIAT but I was wondering if any show this year or indeed any future years is likely to have an f15 flying?

Have never seen one in the air and would love too.

The USAF are back this year. The blue angels have done their first few shows of the year and they're looking at budgets between nations to see if bringing the F35 is an option.

Currently the confirmed list for RIAT is a bit thin on the ground but most shows won't confirm until closer to the date. I think the closest you'd get is a static aircraft.

You could always visit Norfolk?

In the past the US East-Coast F15 display pilot has come to the UK and flown a Lakenheath jet at RIAT etc. I've no idea if this will happen this year though.

Lakenheath jets are a bit busy this year in Eastern Europe though.

Last week there were rather a lot of them making quite a racket (even when flying slow) over South Cambs. We normally only get a couple at a time.

Some years ago, maybe 11 or 12 years past I climbed Snowdon with my lad.

Having ascended the mountain and mingled with all the tourists at the top we began our descent down the top of the Watkins Path. There is a boulder/scree scramble we had to carefully work our way down near the top.

A lovely clear day and as we carefully scrambled down there was a sucking sound above us followed a few seconds later by an explosion of noise as an unmarked twin engine, twin tailplane jet came over the ridge above us and dropped into the Cwm below us, no more than 200ft above the ground and the mountain shook I'm sure of it

I'm used to the RAF Hawks out of Valley giving us a show over the mountains when we're up there but thats the only time I've seen a non-RAF type on low flying training, no insignia (Just dark blue all over) and I'm pretty sure it was an F15 (Might conceivably have been an F14 but I don't know what else looks like that)

The F-15 has twin TAIL FINS (not twin tailplanes).

The fighter variants were normally painted a pale grey colour and the bomber variants dark green or dark grey.

I doubt they were F-14s as it was quite rare to see US Navy F-14s in the UK.

I beleive that there is a good chance that the F35 will be at Farnborough and RIAT this year.

On a related note OP, I have a small A4 poster of the F110 engine that I believe powers the F-15. Do you want it? It's sitting in my desk drawer gathering dust, if an F-15 fan wants it then I'm happy to post it to you.

Hope the US send the F-35Bs over. I work on a part of it! Be great to see one flying in anger.

There is a VHS of Mildenhall Airshow 92 kicking around my cabinet somewhere. I won it at a raffle when in Primary school. First, and last, thing I have won!

It was always fascinating to see the breadth of machinery at that show and I feel I saw its equal at RIAT in 2004.

Pretty sure that the USAF have stated that there will unlikely be an airshow at Mildenhall again which is a shame, there are a lot of people in and around that area that would dearly love it to happen again. Too far from Waddington/Southend and maybe not too interested in the warbirds at Duxford.

I went to a number of great Mildenhall shows in the 1980s (82, 84 and 87). they were always excellent with a large American (naturally) content. The highlight of the 84 show was the display by the SR-71 and the Thunderbirds team.

They were also the best place in the UK for barbeques

I was there for the SR71 incredible sight

I was lucky enough to see an SR-71 flying on two occasions. One also displayed at the 1990 Farnborough Air Show.

You clearly never heard an EE Lightning.
