Spitfire at Goodwood

I here there is a spitfire you can pay to go in at GW has anyone been in it and how much was it ?

It's the Boultbee spitfire. As far as I'm aware it's only for pilot training and it's certainly not cheap. You would need a current PPL and I think the conversion training was upwards of £20k when I last looked.

First they do a tail-wheel conversion course then get you up in the Harvard and finally the Spitfire. Apparently costs £5,400 and you need a PPL.

There is soon to be another company offering flights in a two seater Spitfire http://aerolegends.co.uk/bbfe.php and from what I can make out it will be £4,900

They're both ownd by Boultbee and both two seaters. I was lucky enough to be in a position to do their Spitfire intro course last month which although pretty pricey, will be a day I'll remember for the rest of my life! You get to fly the Moth, Harvard and Spitfire during the course and it's a first class experience all the way. There's a write up and pics on my blog (link in my profile)

Interesting Matt. I would love to do something like that but don't have a PPL. I am a glider pilot, have done plenty of spinning and flown a Tiger Moth - I guess all those years using a rudder and spot landing with no engine helped with that.

p.s. I thought your comments about spinning were funny because it's one of those things you are trained on pre-solo in gliders. Next ask your instructor to put you into an inverted spin - do a loop with too little speed and spin off the top. Then he calmly says "You have control." That's fun.
