Not just in those lost airframes, but their whole manufacturing line will be disrupted waiting for their replacements. Could be a lot of downtime..

It looks like an early stage in the evolution of the aeroplane, as they climb out of the water and set foot on land for the first time. Another million years should see them evolve wings and fly.

I was going to post to defend Dan Air but I didn't join them until 1989 so I can't comment on the Dans of the 70s!

I flew with them a number of times between about 1981 and 1989. On my last flight with them I flew in a Boeing 727 which they had acquired under a lease. The aircraft had been an insurance write off a couple of years earlier when it ran off the runway at Acapulco (it had been operated by Mexicana, I think).

The train has derailed, all the air craft are still attached to their flat cars.

I expect as to who pays will depend on wether the fault was with the freight cars (operated by BNSF from what I can gather) or the track.
