What was it? plane id content

Hi,
I saw an interesting looking plane yesterday and wondered if anyone here could identify it. It seemed to be flying a pattern as if maybe it was doing aerial photography or something. Anyway!

It was roughly shaped like a u2 but narrower wingspan, prop engines, and the fuselage tapered to be very slender after the wing root before rising into a T tail

Ideas? it caught my eye mostly because I thought it must have some clever construction techniques involved in the narrow fuselage

looks like it. I'd forgotten the winglets as another distinctive feature

Its a DA-42 and there was one at the Farnborough Airshow this year kitted out with cameras etc for survey work.

You're not near Bournemouth Airport are you? The commercial pilot school use a similar looking aircraft (possibly the same) for multi engine training there.

Not near bournemouth. The survey work suggestion would seem to fit as it looked to be flying in a repeated pattern, I wondered if it might have been for google or something at the time

DEA fly these out of gamston. They do airfield calibrating work and aerial imagery type work. It's also referred to as a DA42 twinstar
