Service of outdrives
Discussion
Its typically various combinations of the following:-
- replace oil
- check bellows or remove drive and replace if due, at the same time examine universal joint
- Remove prop(s), examine shaft, grease shaft, refit with new prop nut
- check operation of trim/steering
- check for excess play in various bearings
- replace anodes if needed
- examine drive for signs of damage/corrosion , replace part as required.
- replace shift cables if required
I think thats about it.

Julian has it.
Only thing to add is inspect the oil and flush plug for water / metal contamination. it's possible now to send the oil off cheaply for anaylsis to get an idea of what is happening inside.
And a final note is that a service validates your insurance when it sinks. First thing an insurer asks when one goes down through bellows failure is for evidence of last time it was replaced and check that against manufacturer recommendations.
But really John you should roll up your sleeves and do it yourself. Couple of hours a drive once you know what you are doing. Just don't phone me when you have it stuck on your foot and unable to move it or yourself because you forgot to release a cable. ;-)
