I watched it last night...really good.

We did the "£0.5 million" machined rear frame parts at 5" and 6'50" minutes.

That was good to watch. I really enjoyed the 'bits' in isolation but the craft as a whole I found difficult to get excited about for some odd reason. I also got annoyed that Jaguar had that bit of tatty plastic wobbling around on top of their V8 still. Make a nice-looking cam cover or something if you want to keep your logo on display! Andy Green seems absolutely ace. Is Chris Harris very short, or is Andy Green very tall? I couldn't be an RAF pilot due to height, so I'm kind of surprised he fitted.

Rolls Royce tend to really dislike non-aviation applications of their engines - they had very little in the way of support the last two times.

The fact they are sanctioning this one even slightly is a positive.

Andy green gave a talk I attended and mentioned that it was the RR wouldn't provide engines so the RAF provided them which annoyed RR. How true that is I don't know but it came from Andy greens mouth and I have no reason to doubt him.

Richard Noble did a talk at our place as part of the rear subframe/rocket mount/diffuser machining project we did for them. I understood the engines came via. the MOD as part of a deal whereby the team had to promote engineering to kids in schools etc. I could well have mis-remembered the detals though.

Yep, pretty much. Lord Drayson IIRC. RR don't actually own any EJ200 engines, they're managed theough NEFMA.

RR couldn't provide any engines because RR don't own any engines. They are however providing engineering support for the engines and their integration, and proving engineers to support the STEM part of bloodhound.

What's the source of your rumour? I've spoken first hand to RR engineers doing work on the engine; my wife is a teacher and has had a RR engineer supporting her technology class; and last week a group of 6 RR engineers came to my children's school and spent the whole day with them.
