The UK Government seems to have started the ball rolling and these should start replacing the 23's in early 2021. But the fleet will still be understrength. If we had the full complement of Type 45's then we would be OK. But with less than 10? Then the Frigate looks small.

The fleet will never be what it used to be that I am certain of! But the ageing fleet and change in requirements is badly needed.

I don't think we'll see all 13 ships of class either if this goes the same way as the Type 45.

Must be an upgrade since the last comments I saw. The 26 is down as an ASW platform with a General purpose Type 27 to follow within a few years and an AAW type 28 for export markets.

They're all Type 26; there will be a single hull design into which they can install differing equipment to determine the role of each ship.
