Air Malaysia - Would you fly with them?

Stupid question, I know, but I'm struggling to convince myself that I should book flights,via Amsterdam with KLM, from my local airport (Norwich) to Perth (Australia) later in the year.

There isn't any other convenient carriers in regards to flight connections at Schipol, so my other option it to fly from Heathrow and factor in the hassle of getting to the airport (4 hours + 3 hours wait time) on the journey.

Cost wise, for 4 of us, the Heathrow flight is £350 cheaper, but factor in car park charges, fuel to get there and hassle, I'd prefer to fly from Norwich.

Statistically, there are numerous flights per day all over the world, but it still does nothing for my confidence in Air Malaysia.

I just need to convince myself. (bit of a nothing post really, just interested to see others views)

Without doubt, I wouldn't single that airline out as worse than any others.

I do prefer not to fly at all where possible as I hate flying, but it wouldn't phase me to fly with them if I had to.

Air Malaysia?

Malaysian Airlines perhaps? Personally I'd avoid them as the recent comments by their CEO about how the airline is in a far worse state that first thought would not inspire me with confidence when booking a ticket for a date sometime in the future when they may no longer exist.

Go for it, I bet the plane will be half empty because people chose an alternative. No more likely to fall out of the sky than any other. The Ukraine incident was sheer bad luck, a number of airlines we also flying over this area and it could have been any of them. As for the first disaster/disappearance, it is not really any different to the recent Germanwings suicide/crash. Germanwings = Lufthansa.

They're bankrupt aren't they?. I thought I saw a report on Sky about it.

I'd fly them without hesitation. As an airline the service is pretty good overall.

Probably not ideal price-wise or concern about connections, but fly to Amsterdam on KLM then connect to any of about 4 or 5 different airlines from there to Perth.
The KLM aeroplanes might take you to Kuala Lumpur then swap to a Malaysian plane?
Fly out of Birmingham or Manchester?

Emirates offer a flight but it doesn't tie in very well with connections from Norwich (we'd have to sit around for 6 hours)
Birmingham is 4 hrs drive, Manchester is over 5hrs, so as bad, or worse than Heathrow, albeit it we could FlyBe to Manchester and then wait for 5 hours to fly with another airline

Singapore? even fly KLM to Singapore or Singapore airlines then hop onto something else there as there are about 5 or 6 flights (various airlines) a day into Perth from Singapore maybe 2 or 3 (various) from KL.
