Anyone been watching this? It's a flying/travel documentary series following an ex Royal Marine visiting some interesting places and doing some flying there with the locals.

Episode 1 was last Monday and covered some flying in Nepal looks like episode 2 is set in Australia.

Worth watching.

Yes, he is an ex marine, and he has a PPL. He was involved in a car accident which left him in a wheel chair, and subsequently he learned to fly.
Good luck to him, Not sure I would have trusted being in a wheel chair on the runway at Lukla though, unless I had asbestos hands

Yes I enjoyed the first episode, flying that high in that little aircraft without oxygen was a bit daft. Nepal looked amazing.

Makes me want to convert my PPL(H) into a Plane licence even more now.

Very enjoyable programme, in that the chap Arthur seems a nice guy with a great rapport with the locals and enthusiamsm for the flying. And the settings are incredible.

But, I did think instance where the Soviet guy started "acting" a bit dizzy at 13k-odd feet and gave control to Arthur was contrived. 13,000 ft asl isn't especially high, and certainly not for someone acclimatised to Nepal. Plus he'd still need to be capable of operating the rudder as I doubt the aircarft had hand rudder controls

It's worth watching. Episode 2 was last night. It's not really a travel show or about flying it's a sort of mix between the two. It's not really about being in a wheelchair either, but then, ever so often you notice him taking his wheelchair somewhere that looks a bit like hard work and he's just getting on with it.

He asks some interesting questions to the people he meets, I'm really enjoying it but if you took away all the flying stuff, im not sure I'd be watching it.

One thing that puzzled me though, when he landed in the Catalinaesqe boat plane the pilot had the landing gear down. Anyone know why?

He was taxing in to the shore, my assumption was that it was to help prevent accidental grounding of the hull.
