I can't see a thread for it, so apologies if I'm duplicating. Had a great day out with cracking weather at the old Church Fenton. Great to see spirited displays from all the aircraft. Thought the Huey was particularly entertaining. There was a poignant display from the two Gnats and I'm pretty sure the Vulcan was inverted as it left. Some random phone pics....
How did you get the shots in the enclosure? Fenced off when we were there.
Definitely wouldn't ever go again, two hour queue to get in at a pace slower than walking and the exit was just as bad.
Watched the first two hours of the display from the road in and there were people turning around and giving up.
Very badly organised
And huge queues for all the food stalls and after we stood for 20 minutes in the Fish & Chip queue they stuck a sign up saying "No Fish!"

Was busy wasn't it? Queues for the food were crazy!
I was very fortunate to fly in with a couple of pals so avoided the traffic, although they were holding us in a pattern for landing for about 15 minutes at 10.30 or so. I believe some of the roads in had roadworks or temporary traffic lights which can't have helped. Mind you, I remember there were always queues in and out when the RAF were running it!

Really enjoyed it today. We arrived early in my mate's camper and left late (7.45ish). We stayed at the show when it finished to watch the aircraft leave then went back to the van got the table out and had our tea watching the cars leave and people getting frustrated. Still took us 90 min for a 40 min drive.
In the programme it says it's back next year on the Waddo weekend for a two day show.
Yes the queues for food were long etc. and this maybe due to them letting none ticket holders in? But I'll forgive them that for an airshow nigh on on my doorstep.

Fabulous event in terms of flying. Epic traffic chaos though. I ended up parking in a nearby village and walking the last mile or so, thank gawd for Waze on my phone which showed a couple of stretches of stalled traffic before I got to them so I could work round it all. For a show put on with so little time to plan, with crowd/parking/flying areas all changed due to the Shoreham accident, I think they did a bloody good job. I'm sure they'll learn lessons on traffic, toilets, food etc. It's always depressing see the great British public swearing and b

Regarding the show itself, it is obvious they weren't expecting so many people. We had a bit of a queue to get in, but we set off early and expected it. We were into the showground before 11. The aircraft seemed very close, which was fantastic. No major problems with anything during the day, and we expected a big delay getting out. What else would you expect from a busy show, at an airfield, in a tiny village? We wandered around for an hour after the flying ended, and watched the aircraft leave. We ended up sat for an hour or so in the car park. Ho hum. I'll be there next year.
I spent a large part of that (Vulcan) display behind a pair of binoculars. Because of the dust of course.
I have never been to an air show where it was as quiet as when the pass with the gnats went by. Missing man was particularly poignant.
The howl when 558 came in on her own was wonderful, and her display majestic. I struggled through it but I didn't want it to end. I can't describe the feelings towards a machine I felt, as she climbed away for the last time, then hung beautifully on her side, for what seemed like an eternity, before rolling level and disappearing into the haze.

To add. I'll be honest, I wasn't expecting much from this show. I was debating whether to pay £20, but decided to because I wanted to see the Vulcan, as I won't get chance again. I'm glad I went. I had a very, very good day.

Had a great day myself though it wasn't without its logistical issues. I used to go to this show as a kid so I know that traffic is inevitable. This was particularly bad though. Food was junk and overpriced and there was a completely unforgivable shortage of toilets. Car park was gridlocked until 8pm at the end.
I'd go again but I'd set off from home two hours earlier to allow time to enjoy the static displays and stalls before the flying begins, and I take plenty of my own food. If the organizers could fix the lack of toilets and have some competent people managing the car park at the end it'd be a big improvement.

I went, mainly to see the Vulcan for the last time. It was 3 o clock by the time we got in to the car park so the day was half over. The woman on the gate allowed me to take the little one through for free because of this, I saw at least 15 people walk straight through without paying/having tickets checked but decided against as its not really in the spirit of things. I echo all the comments made about ques in and out of the car parks and for food etc, But -
Seeing and feeling the Vulcan and watching it head off into the sun is something I'll never forget (it was definitely inverted at one point) and far out weighs all the problems.
P.s If the guy in the Griff is on here, I hope you managed to find fuel! I very almost ran out myself!
