Just had a heads up that a chap from the pro duck group is on Yhe Vine Show at 13.30 today.
Might be intersting if they also get the Chairman of the Gresley trust in the oppposite corner
Pro for the Duck
Eye catching
Will get the younger element interested
Good analogy between the designer and the Worlds fastset Steam locomotive
There are several other points as well

Against
Two grandsons dont like it ( one is even a duck breeder) you couldnt make it up
Err thats it

I think the duck is a good idea. Most statues get little passing interest, but who could look at a statue of a bloke with a duck and not want to find out more about him?

I'm going out on a limb, but based on Gresley (famous locomotive engineer) and the mention of "Worlds fastset(sic) Steam locomotive", I suspect the Duck in question is Mallard - the steam locomotive speed record holder.

Not sure what the rest of it means biglaugh

Good call - although it's called after a specific type of duck, rather than just "Duck".

It relates to an Almighty row about a statue that might, or might not include a duck. I can't quite believe the amount of fuss this has created:

The duck was a stupid, fatuous, patronising idea. If any 'added interest' is needed, how about an A4 wind tunnel model?
