That is rather nice. Unfortunately, it often seems that boat designers, from small pleasure-craft right the way up to massive cruise ships, have lost their way and are building sea-going temples to vulgarity. Just compare "Allure of the Seas" to S.S. France...

For cruise ships form tends to follow function, the owners want to maximise the number of outside cabins with balconies, hence the resemblance to a floating block of flats. Reduce that requirement and you get a much better looking ship


T45 are quite pretty as well


For small craft there is always Wally

True, but cruise ships and liners are two different things - one for passenger capacity and one for speed across oceans. Just like airliners, the big capacity of cruise ships has reduced the price enough for everyone to cruise, unlike liners which were very expensive.

I'd rather pay more to go on something that doesn't ride a good-going seaway like a bloody crate...

QM2 is the least worst of the modern mega-liners, but it's still far from a good design. QE2 was a bit more like it, but SS United States and SS France were so much better.
