Old plane over York

Does anyone know what old ww2 style plane was flying over Huntington near York at around 12:20 today ? The plane was pretty low and made a circle around and the flew off. It was bigger than a fighter , maybe Dakota size.

There is a variant of a DC3 which flies over North Yorkshire from time to time, I've seen it over the office in Malton quite a bit.

It definitely wasn't the training plane, it was very similar to the linked Dc3 but it was dark grey .

Did it sound like a turbo prop? The RAF use these from Cranwell..

MBH- it was more like the second one, I think it was dark grey and if it had any markings they didn't stand out. The first one looks too modern and I don't think it had passenger windows in the fuselage.

It was a Dakota. I live two miles from Elvington and saw it clearly.

It would have had passenger windows - although the OP probably just couldn't see them.

Elvington have a flight-worthy DC3 don't they? It could easily have been that.

It's capable of ground running and taxiable but the Elvington one isn't a flier.

In that case, the OP must have spotted the ghost DC3, oft seen over North Derbyshire.

Mystery solved, the BBMF Dakota was reported over York on December 4th.

I was going to suggest BBMF, but then couldn't think why it would be over York in December. Anybody know why?
