I've got a bareboat charter booked from Split in early August. Finishing off my DS Practical and VHF in a month's time with First Class Sailing, which will merit all the necessary paperwork for Croatia - got the DS Theory, Comp Crew and a little mileage already.

Who is doing what, and going where? Must be some fun stuff going on/planned for the summer!

I'm off to cowes for lunch on Thursday.

Racing in the Warsash Spring series starting the end of the month for 2 months, followed by a bareboat charter out of Trogir, Croatia in May.

After that it's back to racing with the round Ireland yacht race in June. And then I think that will be my year up so will try and get my Yachtmaster practical fitted in.

Cowes week I may charter a boat and the Commodores cup I'll try and get out on the water to spectate.

Does anyone recommend any sailing places in Sydney to learn?

I figured I might as well get it done whilst over here in a place were everyone seems to have a boat.

Anyone got any experiences of doing a sailing course, which one should I look at, do they transfer to Europe when I come back and kind of prices are reasonable?

Was looking at $1800-4000 depending on where I look at the moment, but Im a clueless newb.

Splashing our tub in May (Lake Michigan) planning to bag a few hundred miles on our log. Not quite ready to do a lake crossing (90 miles) with the missus yet, but maybe next year.

Also hoping to 'blag' a place on this years Chicago Mackinac race (300 mile trip).

Doing the maintenance now (just had some gold plated, diamond encrusted Volvo parts delivered), polish, clean, wax on, wax off....

Launch in about a month, a bit of local stuff until June, then heading down to Corsica, maybe Italian islands for the summer.

That must have been some effort! I know what it takes to keep our old Winklebrig going and that was only an 18ft long old open fishing boat from the very early 1900's and this must have taken an awful lot more!

This year, I've a couple of new toys to play with, I swapped the aforementioned winklebrig for an RS400. A nice plastic boat to play with, joy of joys! I've also just acquired an MG Spring 25 as a family tub that might get the occasional race thrown in. She arrives tomorrow, so I think we'll get the mast up in th afternoon and if the wind dies down, we may lob her in now and get some early sailing. I may get the Erbascher fitted quickly though...

For racing purposes the Sonata will get chucked in too, we've a great class of them locally, so it'll be good to renew our annual dust up and drinking sessions afterwards!

The RIB will get chucked into the water as soon as it's warm enough to go for a picnic down the creeks. I live on Mersea Island, so we're well blessed with places to disappear off to to get some peace and quiet.

I cannot wait!
