They call me Mr Plow

We don't really get a call for a whole load of these things down where I live in southern Hampshire, but I've spent the past couple of weeks in Banff in Canada and every time I went over the railway crossing this menacing looking thing was lurking in the sidings of Banff station.

Looks like it's about to be put away until next winter and I know we've all seen the YouTube videos of them in action, but it was quite fun to get close up to such a specialised machine.

It's three separate bits of kit, wedge plow and 2 Jordan spreaders. Jordan refers to the manufacture, compressed air is used to move the wings in and out and the angles can be raised as well. They get summer use to clear out ditches and level and shape ballast shoulders. Some railroads have spreaders with much larger front blades for snow clearance these 2 are more or less as built. Plenty of clips on Youtube just type in Jordan spreader or wedge plow.The wedge plow dates back to 1926 and has been rebuilt at CP's Angus shop, so it's seen a few winters.
