Vulcan "replacement"?

Could not see a thread anywhere else, anyone know if they have decided a new "project" yet? I seem to recall that once XH558 was grounded, it was announced that they would restore something else, has anything more been revealed?

They did buy the recently restored and airworthy ex-Classic Flight Meteor T.7, which was an ex-Finningley based airframe during it's service life, but I've not seen any reports since about them flying it on the show circuit....??

Be nice if they bought the MidAir Canberra as well, but can't see it.

Until the dust settles post-Shoreham, vintage jet ops could be a non-starter in the UK.

Would have preferred that.
I do not get the point in them just buying and displaying an already full airworthy aircraft.
I realize that it still has to be maintained, but I would much prefer them taking something that had not flown for years, and getting it back in the sky.

There were rumblings of a Concorde, I think because the knowledge of the Olympus engines would extend from the Vulcan

Without the joint consent of Airbus, Air France and BA it will never happen, and two of those couldn't wait to ground it permanently.

Plus the fact that there are no flight worthy parts for them among many other issues that make getting the Vulcan back in the air seem like a walk in the park.

Never going to happen - end of.

I believe the Vulcan replacement is a steel tube that glides stealthily underwater some of the time, and is tied to a dock in Scotland most of the time.
