Can't help thinking he's being a bit ambitious - cater for five? Dining area in the cockpit?

Jeez, another "helicopter-turned-in-to-a-bunk house/holiday home/hot tub/man cave" non-story.
Getting really boring and all a bit samey. Still, there can't be that many left to auction now, the novelty will soon wear off and then they'll all get properly scrapped. I mean really.....what's the big attraction? Once you're asleep it makes no difference where you are, and it only looks like a helicopter from the outside. Make it habitable on the inside and it'll just look like an odd shaped hotel room.
Bit noisy when it rains too.

I don't see why not. With all the equipment removed from the inside there will be at least as much space as a modest sized caravan. Seems a good use for an aircraft that would otherwise be scrapped.
I suppose. I've only once ever been inside one of the things, long time ago, and it seemed to have about as much room as a Mini.Crossflow Kid said:

Ooh, get you Mr Jaded-Palate. Well, it was a new concept to me.Crossflow Kid said:

So you don't want to go halves on my chinook hotel? Getting really boring and all a bit samey. Perhaps they could mount it on springs and fit it with a motor and offset weight so it has that authentic 'shaking like a s
tting dog and about to fall to pieces' feeling. They could play an endless loop MP4 of a pair of Gnomes howling and a cement mixer full of bolts and broken glass for the full immersive experience.

For a few quid more, when it gets to the point of take off they could have someone mumble an apology about conditions being too hot/high/windy and ask everyone if they wouldn't mind waiting for the next Chinook.;)

I've never flown in one, but I've wondered round a few at air shows. Oddly enough, I really like the Sea King. I did a lot of diving in the UK during the noughties and if it all went tits up (which is did for several friends), then you knew a Sea King was on hand to take you to the nearest chamber or to hospital.
In fact when they tried to remove the Portland based Sea King, all the Dive boats barricaded the harbor for a day.
