This is strictly unconfirmed as it was shared on Facebook, but if it is true then there could be some serious questions asked....
"UNCONFIRMED REPORT: THUNDERBIRDS CRASH FROM LAST WEEK
This is a follow on report from a usually reliable source. I can not yet verify this note as factual.
As you know, these events are timed to the second. The F-16s took off on time and formed up to start the show. However, the president was behind schedule and the White House (secret service) ground director told the Thunderbirds to hold out side the show area. This continued until two F-16s declared emergency due to low fuel. An Obama aide ordered that they were not to land due to presidential security. One bird ran out of fuel and the pilot punched out. An F-16 costs about $30 million. Another defied instruction and landed but ran out of gas on final. The others then landed without permission.
This is a case of some dummy exercising power without knowledge. The president likely had nothing to do with it and may not have been briefed since then.
Who was at fault? The buck stops with the pilots. He is the aircraft commander, knows the situation and should have landed.
Corrective action: The Thunderbird commander was fired and the pilots are being disciplined which likely means their careers are finished. The remainder of their show season has been cancelled and their future is in question."
I'm in 2 minds - I would have thought that safety regs would dictate having enough fuel to reach another airfield incase of the display runway suddenly being u/s due to an emergency

There were certainly 'online reports' of the situation being along those lines....but
There is evidence that the USAF had to pump fuel out of the bird before they could recover it, so it would seem it didn't run out of the stuff, and that it was likely some other technical issue that caused the donk to quit on finals.
There has also been a picture posted online of the Pres shaking the hand of the pilot who banged out (still wearing his G-suit etc) after the incident.

I wouldn't believe anything said on Facebook. It might be true that Secret Service might ask the Thunderbirds to stay away from the show area. What wouldn't happen is if the Thunderbirds declared an emergency due to low fuel, an aide to the President cannot order them to remain in the air. Even the President couldn't do that.
