Yup Tall Ship Races, or Tall Ship Drifts at the moment as no wind about. Nellie wafting around at the back of the fleet as usual.
Bit of engineer stuff kicking around later in the year if you fancy earning far less money than usual

Less money is better than no money; jobless due to the oil crash (was set to go to college to do my 2nds as well....)! Now contemplating going on cruise ships, so I've obviously taken a blow to the head! Yup Tall Ship Races, or Tall Ship Drifts at the moment as no wind about. I know you jest, but some voyage crew on the tall ships do ask why engineers are needed on board. Even the deck crew question our existence sometimes (until the toilets get blocked, anyway....) 
I've just come back from a weeks holiday on the coast just near Dover, had spectacular views of the channel all week, and I was wondering why so many sailing ships had been going by.
We went last year as well, and I even invested in my first ever paid for app (Marine traffic), so I could tell what was what driving passed.
I'm not a real 'boaty' type of person,but you can't help but be impressed by the size of some of these beasts, and also just how busy the channel is. It resembled a WWII convoy at times!
The other good part about having a holiday cottage on the white cliffs is the amount of war bird traffic you get, this wasn't as busy as last year but we had a Harvard, Spitfire in formation with a Dakota, a Mustang, Red Bull B.25,twice and then a lone Spitfire a couple of times!
We saw this Ship, called the 'Maybe' battle for about an hour against the wind just off Dover,really getting thrown around, then eventually give up, turn around head back north. It came passed the next day with no sails, using it's engine.
