Best/Worst Airline food ~?

Generally it isnt great but I had a Massaman Beef Curry on Virgin Premium Economy the other day and it was actually pretty nice, the whole meal actually seemed like someone had tried it before signing it off, some of it is totally disgusting, some macaroni thing on an Internal Delta flight in the US a few years back, totally inedible.
I never fly business so not sure what happens, my first and last business class flight, might have been first actually was in 1994 !

Generally speaking I enjoy airplane food!
One meal I can remember for the wrong reasons was United Airlines SFO-DEN. It was a toasted cheese and ham sandwich, served in foil like a naan from a take-away. The 'toast' was more like french toast - utterly greasy!
Singapore's spicy noodles for breakfast was a great meal I remember - as was Lufthansa First Class, but that's cheating

Ignoring Business Class food (as they're usually very good - except Garuda!), I would say in my experience Emirates seem to put out the best Economy Class food. Etihad have also been very good.
The American outfits seem to send out some absolute muck though, if they actually bother to serve any. I did 5 1/2 hours with American Airlines the other night and didn't get so much as a glass of water. I really don't know how the Americans continue to get by with the all-round piss-poor product they provide, be it the ancient 757s doing transatlantic flights, the ancient hosties serving on those flights or any of the other sub-standard aspects of their product.
Oh and the breakfast on Aeroflot the other day was completely inedible, although I found the service, aircraft and operation as a whole to be surprisingly excellent!

BA has always been good first class or economy. - I flew BA from City to Frankfurt and effectively got a full english on their economy 1 hour something flight. International flights I look forward to the BA meals. (Virgin similarly are good).
I just can't imagine anything being worst than a US airline for food, that's if you even get any. I swear they try and find a way to make the food as awful as possible and then some.

Air Canada non business class is usually quite good (when outbound from Canada)
Flew back from Vancouver a while back - with my wife and brother in-law - both of whom don't like smoked salmon (which was the starter ...) And we're not talking a little bit either - had enough from the three starters of smoked salmon gave up my main meal and pudding !!
If we're talking Business (cheating I know) Virgin Atlantic is hard to beat - the fact I'm usualy sozzled before i get on the plane has nothing to do with the fact the food/drink and wine are V good .....

It would only be fair for me to judge flights I've been on recently so BA first/business/PE all pretty good in my experience. Emirates all classes good. Druk Air, a lovely sandwich quaintly wrapped in cling film like your mum used to do with your packed lunch, chilli cheese on the way back which was hot enough to blow your a
hole clean off.
BA economy though, Jesus what utter garbage they serve. Last 4 flights I've done with BA I've just had the pasta because the alternatives looked, smelled and tasted fking awful (I know because my girlfriend had them). Stale cheese croissant for breakfast with a cold vile coffee. My sister works for them and they all scavenge what they can from business and first or just go hungry.

Flew Gatwick to Schipol a few months back with BA in economy and the flight attendant didn't even get past row 14 before giving up and going back to her seat. I have done that flight regularly at about 8am and all you get is a drink and a small bag of crisps if youre lucky. Ive never seen a breakfast like that on a short hop.TEKNOPUG said:

Heavily unionised I believe.I've done UK to US many times (all economy/premium economy) and for me:
1. BA
2. Virgin
Continental would be rock bottom, but closely followed by United and American. I don't mind (half decent) airplane food at all, oddly enough.
A friend did Thomson Dreamliner to Mexico a few weeks back and said they were incredibly stingy with fluids, which is not what you want on a flight.

We did that last year, food was ok but they weren't exactly throwing booze at you, on Virgin Premium Economy I managed three mini bottles of fairly potent (14 percent) and not terrible Red and a rather nice Brandy, then had a nice sleep. Tip is, When they bring the after dinner coffee/tea round, you don't have to have tea or coffee, just ask for whatever else you want instead, Stewardesses were very smiley and pleasant as well, definitely better than the economy flight on a 747 I did a while back, much as I love the 747 they are feeling their age.1.
