Airliner low around the Isle of Wight

My plane-identifying skills are a bit rusty, but there's a T-tailed airliner (727 or similar?) that's just done a couple of orbits of the Isle of Wight and Christchurch bay at low altitude (last pass was very low past the IoW - probably a few hundred feet). White with a red tail / rear fuselage. I didn't spot it on Flightradar.

(still out there now - 10:11).

What's that doing then?

Could well be - good shout, thank you! Certainly looked very like the pics that Google just turned up.

Test or training flight I guess then, unless there's a tanker sinking near here...

It's back! And it's brought a friend; 2 of them in quite close formation.

Edited to say :- with a 3rd much smaller a/c above and behind them. Photo shoot?

Indeed. They appear to have departed now but not everyday you see a pair of 727s in formation over The Needles! Splendid. I'd best get some work done...

They were carrying out a trial off Bournemouth down to 150ft. OSRB arrived into Lasham this morning from doncaster or east mids and then they both departed Lasham to carry out the trial.

I was at a duxford airshow last yr sometime, Vulcan and the 2 Lancaster were displaying over the weekend, one of these oil tanker thingys turned up and just blew every else out the water, mental display.
