No idea what it is but its massive looks like a c130 but with 4 jet engines at around 500ft maybe lower

Might be going into Leeds Bradford

Very imposing whatever it was

Wasn't a civilian aircraft

Just came over my house in Leeds too, I think it was a Lockheed C-5 Galaxy from what my furious Googling suggests, sounded awesome smile

No sign of it on any of the "what's live in the sky" type websites.

Leeds Bradford Airport Twitter seems to support this.

On the subject of the C17....

Has anyone seen the video footage of the USAF C17 flying low along the so called Star Wars Canyon in, I think, Nevada???

Awesome to see such a big aircraft flying like that.

According to http://global.adsbexchange.com/VirtualRadar/deskto... it was a C-17A, and was at 3100ft asl over Wakefield. Aircraft to tend to look a lot closer than they really are, especially when they are mahoosive sods like these biggrin

No idea why, but it had it's undercarriage down - or at least the doors open. Now it was a warm and very humid day today, and I don't blame it for letting it's undercarriage dangle in the breeze... But it is a bit odd.

Pic (already posted in the Yorkshire forum, so I won't embed it again)

Was near Leeds today and saw it flying low in a left turn, not a common site down south, never seen one flying, an impressive sight.

It's Military Grey colour was the giveaway, but it looked huge, thought it might have been a C5.

Best stunt I've seen from a C17 was at Farnborough airshow a few years ago when one did an impressively short landing, and then did a 3 point turn on the runway. You don't see many planes reverse under their own power biggrin
