Let's be honest. It's never going to be the Typhoon, what with all the cuts and stuff and I certainly hope it isn't prop driven. That would just be a massive step down and another nail in our once great military coffin.

I know it's probably sacrilege to say this, but I saw the Patrouille de France displaying at Leuchars a few years ago in Alpha Jets. It was a very impressive display, so I voted for "another trainer", meaning the Alpha Jet. I now see it's out of production, so can I change my vote to "more Hawks" ?

Perhaps if they made an investment in taking on a few more tranche 3 with all the new gucci kit. Otherwise they'll find a use for the T1 just to keep the headline fastjet fleet numbers looking politically healthy.

As they like to use the catchphrase 'Best of British' it can only be a British manufactured aircraft ( or one at least partly British ) i.e. Hawk or Typhoon. Cost of running a team of Typhoons, even Tranche 1 ones, would be way too much in these times of austerity, so the hawk is the only real option in my opinion

Haven't you heard, austerity is over!

I think if they got financial support from the international trade dept and perhaps did a fewer shows annually they might make it work.
