The new versions of the 737 like the 800 have fairly small clearance between the bottom of the cowling and the ground -



The previous generation )300/400/500) had a flattened cowl -




And, of course, the original 100 and 200s had much smaller engines -

That should buff out with some T-Cut and polish; the cars a write off though

Have look at where the engine is in relation to the undercarriage. The undercarriage is rearward of the engine and the plane lands with a nose up attitude.

The angle that the plane would have to tilt at to strike the engine is pretty extreme.

I think the A320neo must win the award for the closest engine to the ground.

Fair point, I was only thinking of a front 2D view.

You'd usually hit the wingtip on a B737 or A320 before the engine pod.




4 engines actually make a pod strike more likely.
