Posted on behave of Stow Maries Great War Aerodrome

As either Stow Maries resident pilots or frequent visitors/supporters we really need your help to support our Planning Submission to Maldon District Council for increased movements over the present unworkable limit of 12 aircraft per day. If you and friends/family feel able could you please follow the link to

http://publicaccess.maldon.gov.uk/onlin ... VI0KKGSM00

and pen a few words along the lines of what a unique asset Stow Maries Great War Aerodrome is, how the small air displays and visiting aircraft have really added atmosphere and brought the place alive as a true "living museum" and how the limited number of extra movements requested would be unlikely to impact adversely on the local environment etc. You would need to register and obtain a login.

This would be much appreciated and would help us to keep the aerodrome active as the truly unique and wonderful place that we all love.

Many thanks
G-ANPK (Stow Maries ATC & North Weald Marshalling Team)

They are indeed. What gets me is any time I've flown into the airfield, I don't fly over anyone!

Also, can't understand why the website has failed to list support quotes! I know many have written in from the flyer website but as yet, its just objections. most annoying.

Some of the objections are truly amazing, but not surprising as they are the usual stuff produced by NIMBY`s.
The one about the effect on wild life is particularly poor, since Stow Maries airfield has already been recognized as an out standing area for wild life, and several programs on the wild life the airfield has allowed and encouraged there have been made.
The problem is it is always the loud mouth NIMBY`s who appear to make the most noise. I flew for some years out of Elmsett where some locals complained almost every time an aircraft took off or landed there. The council held a meeting to determine the locals view of the airfield, and out of 1400 submissions only 28 were against operations, at the airfield and the rest for the airfield.
One of the best has to be Ford, where the local NIMBY`s managed to get the airfield shut down for flying. Some time later the airfield got `developed' and instead of having an open area, and the occasional drone of a light plane, they got factories, and a constant stream of HGV`s past their doors, and they say poetic justice does not exist!

Fantastic! That has utterly spanked the NIMBYS. Big thank you to everyone who posted their support .
