727 Overshoots and crashes

Anyone seen this? Very very close call for the people standing at the end of the runway filming.
Looks like the control surfaces have been damaged after collision with fencing etc as they never managed to get back to level flight.

There are other videos of the same incident on you tube. The plane actually stayed airborne for a few minutes but was obviously proving impossible to control properly. In one shot there appears to be vapour streaming from the wingtips - although these could be wingtip vortices.

I see it was in another accident in 1984 in Canada. Probably unrelated.

You would have thought the PIC would have elected to stay straight and try and put it down on the expanse of flat ground about 5 miles SW of the airfield in line with the runway......given that the a/c must have been ill handling after taking out the small building after crossing the fence line!!
Maybe he thought he could turn around and dump fuel and get back to the runway....or put it down in the nearby River Orinoco..??
Seems they have been sailing close to the wind in terms of ops out of this airfield for some time though.
