Cheap shed, speedboat or jetski?

In my teens and 20s i bought a few broken speedboats and jetskis, fixed them up diy (I have been spannering motorbikes since I was 8 and my old man came home with a broken c90 and a haynes manual and said if I can fix it I can have it) played with them for a while and sold them on, usually with enough profit to cover all my costs and the ridiculous amounts of petrol they burnt having fun. This all stopped wheni had to give up my cheap lockup due to redevelopment. Now I am taking on a business premesis with a workshop and lots of secure storage, so as a daddy daughter learning project i was thinking of buying either a knackered jetski or small speedboat to drag some inflatables behind in the summer. She absolutely loves both, at least in ibiza and majorca, not sure what she wil make of doing it on a cold scottish loch or the north sea.
I need to look into towing licensing requirements, do i need to do a test to tow a small speedboat or am i still ok? Licence start date is '99 as i got 6 points after first passing test in 97.
I haven't paid any attention to the floaty thing market for over a decade, which will be easier to acquire, and also to shift on if she doesn't like hypothermia mixed in with her adrenaline?

With regards to towing:

Licences issued from 1 January 1997

If you passed your car driving test on or after 1 January 1997 you can:

1. drive a car or van up to 3,500kg maximum authorised mass (MAM) towing a trailer of up to 750kg MAM
2. tow a trailer over 750kg MAM as long as the combined MAM of the trailer and towing vehicle is no more than 3,500kg

MAM is the limit on how much the vehicle can weigh when it’s loaded.

You have to pass the car and trailer driving test if you want to tow anything heavier.

A jetski shouldn't be a problem with most cars, but a larger boat will start putting you around the limit.

Where do you intend to launch? Would you launch from different sites? My diving club has two 5.5 metre RHIBs (they are f**king good fun!); in the summer, we store one at a boatyard in Pwllheli. The fees aren't too bad, and it saves us a fortune on fuel when towing. When we want to launch, we call them, and they will have it by the slip, ready to launch with their tractor.

Don't know where i would launch out west, used to launch from musselburgh and south queensferry, suppose i still could but the craft will be stored in glasgow. One of my customers has a ski boat and a jet ski so i was going to have a blether with him at some point. Been pushed for time just getting the place sorted out, it will be toward the spring before i can do anything about it, just not sure what way to go. A boatyard might be an idea if she enjoys it and wants to keep it up, but until then i'll keep it at my place. Gives me a chance to tart it up too. If my daughter doesn't enjoy it it'll be gone again as my mrs hates boats, and working 70+ hours a week the only recreation time i spend i want to spend it with them.

Look on ebay you can usually find something like a 15-20 ft Fletcher hull in reasonable nick and just needing a total fit-out of engine, seats and trim. Cheap as chips and would make a good project, although not sure how much money you would make.
