Family trip abroad with sports boat

I'd planned just that kind of trip for last Summer, elderly family stuff got in the way but I will do it one day.......

Huge inland lake in the Gironde which is powerboat friendly. Lots of accommodation around, I'd rented a house right on the beach. There's a lake tax to pay based on the boat size and engine and a couple of formal launch sites including a marina. Biggest issue was where to leave it assuming as I did that I wanted the boat to stay in the water for the duration. Loads of moorings but all privately 'owned' and a waiting list I'm told. Was planning to make my own up when I got there and hide it amongst the others!.
Have holidayed there before without boat and thought it would be perfect. Drone view of the beach and lake here:

Drive down not too bad and apart from the last bit West from Bordeaux, virtually all motorway (Tolls kick in after Nantes), for me Portsmouth route is the easiest one but it's a good long day on the road especially with that on the back. I'd toyed with the idea of running through the night after a leisurely afternoon Channel crossing.
Perfect spot for sportboats, weather great, lots to explore both on and off water. We've all got Level 2 licenses and third party liability on the boat which seemed to tick enough boxes. As no offshore in mind, we weren't expecting too many paperwork issues.

Ive been looking into towing our Regal 2000 into Europe for a holiday this year and have looked at port Grimaud where you can get a house with a mooring or http://www.etoiledargens.com which is a campsite with "mobile homes" and moorings on the river, however we have decided on going to Lake Annecy https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7u8WimrtI2k where we are going to stay in a "mobile home" on campsite http://www.camping-lac-bleu.com/gb/
We decided to stay here because it has moorings on the beach so we could leave our boat in the water for 2 weeks and because the average water temperature is 20-22 deg in June when we are going, another factor that stopped us going to the south coast of France is because of the Minstral wind that blows in the north med which could limit us having a Bowrider, and we had some rough weather in Croatia last year which we could do without this year

Last time I was in Annecy I rented a motorboat for a tour around the lake, it was very nice indeed. That was early September and the weather was stunning. If you get a chance, do a Segway tour around the town, immense fun!
It'll certainly be warmer than the Solent where I usually play (and as we're on photo stuff!)

Also look at a Tandem Paraglide from Col de Forclaz - You fly out over the lake and down across the campsite you are on back to the landing site. Edited by LFB531 on Tuesday 31st January 11:28
