Hawker Siddeley Trident - Talk
Discussion
As I am a member of the FAST Museum at Farnborough, I get regular updates on forthcoming talks and lectures.
Next Tuesday (9 May) they are holding a talk at the Village Inn Farnborough (part of the new trading estate complex on the airfield). The topic is -
"Hawker Siddeley Trident: Blind Faith, Blind Landing" by Max Kingsley-Jones.
I think it should be very interesting as the failure of the Trident as a commercial project is one of the great "What ifs" of British post war civil aviation.
Admission is £5.00 for non FAST members and you can pay on the door. Members get in for nothing.
Just a taster of the subject -

Aviation: a game in which the UK's flair for innovation is not matched by its business acumen, and in the end the Americans win.
That and lots of other issues.I'm looking forward to the talk.
Doors open at 7.00 pm. They usually have coffee on the go before the talk begins.
Ah-ha! Which makes me think train. But I know roughly what he russian & us jet trains looked like and I think they were pods on the roof, not in the tail.
The V1 launched off a track, IIRC, but I don't think a pulse jet engine counts, & really, it was a pod as well.
What else runs on a track and has wheels? The human g-force tests were rocket powered I think - as are most experimental track based tests.
