Hmmm - it looks like half a V 12 but not a Merlin. My guess is that it's a Junkers Jumo 211, possibly from a Ju87 Stuka. Portsmouth has attacked heavilly by Stukas in 1940.

Yep, its definately a Jumo 211.

Possibly from a Ju88, at least two of them crashed into Portsmouth Harbour during a raid on the dockyard on 12th August 1940...?
