Compton Abbas is only 10 mins from me and we go there quite often for a coffee if the weather is decent, the Tiger Moth is a regular over our house, as is the Harvard they have there. Such a shame for the two guys involved and thoughts are with everybody connected.

Sad news. I love classic cars and classic planes but would never set foot in a classic plane. If a classic car breaks down you end up at the side of the road but a plane ends up falling out of the sky.

What a great shame.

On the positive, two guys who were getting on in years lost their lives doing something that, presumably, they loved.

Hopefully they went quickly, in which case it's a hell of a lot better than scraping another 10 or 15 years only to end your days incontinent and gaga in a care home

Just caught up to this - tragic loss of life - I'm assuming it was the resident plane used for pleasure flights....had my dad in it for an hour a couple of months back fulfilling a boyhood dream, so this news touches rather close.. we had an amazing day and the folk there were nothing short of brilliant something the old man will never forget.
Huge sympathies to those affected and here's hoping this is not the end of the enterprise in such stunning surroundings.
