Ryanair having a bad week

Just seen a Ryanair 737 being escorted into Stansted by 2 of the RAFs finest, what a sound, it should have been going into Luton.

Seems it did a few circuits over the channel.

so, what i am unsure on is the capt was clearly in comms with london info/ farnboro/ stansted app/ whoever, so what do the typhoons add to the equation?

I would imagine they are there to shoot the Boeing down should it take a sudden turn for, say, Canary Wharf.

They can add a number of factors to the situation. They can look at the cockpit to see if there's anything untoward happening on the flight deck - that might not be able to be reported by radio, they provide a show of force to anyone on board who's planning anything they shouldn't, and as a final resort they can bring the aircraft down before it reaches a more sensitive target.

It wouldn't have been London info or Farnborough LARS they only provide ATSOCAS. It would have been London Control.

To make sure it goes where it's told to go, and it's good practice.
