What makes people think its an SAS choppa, looks more like a private one to me?
Worth noting im no helicopter expert and even though and ex infantry man neither am I a SF expert either, but would guess the use of Pumas, Merlins, Wild cats and Chinooks are the norm

An identical one was spotted during the terror attack at London Bridge dropping off people so people have put 2 and 2 together and said it's an SF helicopter.Whether it's the same one in the vid is unknown really but again, putting 2 and 2 together, it's doing something most civilian crews wouldn't so chances are it's the "SF" again.

Pah, either way that's some ropey weather to be flying in!

Military helicopters tend to stand out quite a lot in urban environments!Edited by Ryan-nunm9 on Monday 6th August 09:01
Agreed, but pretty much any form of helicopter stands out in an urban environment. Hence why they're not used for surveillance on the main land. There's an Apachi above London, Vauxhall area every now and then. However for the jobs the SF etc are trying to do I doubt there arent many civi heli's with the ability for fast roping etc - I could be wrong. Hear a helicopter and "eveyone" has a look to see if it's the Police one or the Air Ambulance as these are the main ones the majority of people would see unless living near a military garrison.

Isn't the fact it appears to be unmarked like the one in the above pic a bit of a giveaway?
It has the serial on it.I'm no expert, but given the helicopter losses during the Falklands War in support of SF ops, I'd hope that they'd know better than to fly in such conditions. Surely the priority is to put the helicopter on the ground and wait it out, or fly around such weather? That said, maybe they were trying to put it on the ground safely when it was filmed...
