Nice pics, now clearly I haven't a clue so can anyone tell me what the blue 'speedboat' is called and what sort of horsepower it would be with those 4 motors?

TIA.

Thanks.
My 40 tonne truck has 410 bhp laugh

I can't even begin to imagine how it feels in that boat when the throttle is opened.

Mercury Racing 400's offer some serious grunt, but also weight a fair bit. Remember boas need to rise up onto the water to move quickly ie onto plane and then you need to consider weight and drag from the engines.

Seven Marine (Volvo) make a Corvette powered outboard that sounds epic, but these cost upwards of £50,000 per engine.

Outboard motors have developed hugely over the last five years, don't forget the Yamaha 350's that offer power and economy, plus a decent warranty.

Look at the US for centre console boats with three, four or five Mercury Racing 400's that pass 8 mph and bigger cruisers over 40 Ft made by Formula and Cigarette with huge engines handing off the back. HCB offer a boat with I think 5 engines and these move serious weight way out 80-100 miles offshore when fishing, diving or fast cruising.

There was an Italian rib two down from us in the tender area with 4 x 7Marine 675's on the back. Punchy!

There was an article in Octane magazine a couple of months ago regarding a small, little known, British speedboat / launch from the 1960's that used a Coventry Climax F1 engine. All the pics in the article were taken in Monaco harbour, and it looked just perfect retro cool.

Made by Albatross, I think it was, and capable of about 45kts

Lovely little thing

I'm not sure I would describe the Albatross as little known.
