1912 Y14 locomotive ploughed into the silver Mercedes near Sheringham railway station, Norfolk. It is thought the motorist was heading to a nearby golf club at the time of the crash, the crossing's lights and sirens were sounding at the time.

Merc looks pretty fooked. Hopefully the loco will get away with a tin of touch up paint.

Well it certainly looks as though the car crashed into the locomotive! But, easy to do, as that tiny inconspicuous thing came out of nowhere....

Looks to me as though the tender collided with the car, not the loco?

Yes I thought that. If the loco had been going forward the car would have been pushed the other way.
If it had been running in the other direction and caught him amidships he wouldn't have had a hope.

Looks to me like the lead axle on the tender is derailed, it was going tender first to recouple to the coaches. Loco is the only J15(GER Y14) to survive for those interested .
Here's my Hornby J15.

I wonder if the locomotive owners can instruct a claims management company to hire them a replacement loco at an extortionate daily rate until theirs is suitably repaired and inspected? Should make the Mercedes' insurers wake up and pay attention. biggrinbiggrin

Great bit of weathering there Bob, wonderful stuff beer

I hate level crossings, so far the only thing I haven't hit passing over one is a car.

As a retired train driver the crew have my sympathy. As for my photo I can't take credit for the layout, It's Dewsbury Midland built by members of the OO group of the Manchester Model Railway Society.
