Three Apache's came low over the house about 10 minutes ago

Wonder if they were training in the hills of the lakes.

It was F35's last summer

Where are you? They were training in Galloway this week so may be heading back south. Fantastic pieces of kit. Remember seeing them (I think) at Farnborough when I was 16 or so in the 80's.

4 of them came right over the top of the field at the side of our house earlier. Was about 3.45pm. Probably heading back the Leeming. They were heading North.

On the east edge of Lancaster.

We often get interesting items following the M6 down from the lakes. A10's were my particular favourite.

I used to carry out pipeline surveys by helicopter,one of which used to run over Salisbury Plain. I remember undertaking an Apache once as he was dragging his heels....

I was always surprised to see that they are not that fast, certainly couldn't keep up with a Chinook on a charge

Design specs were faster than a T-80, last use case was faster than a Nissan with a welded on weapon. Reckon it's fast enough

They came into Blackpool Airport earlier today. I did hear them, although I didn’t go out to check what the noise was

They have since left but do appear to have forgot to take one of them with them.

Thankfully, racing a Chinook isn’t a requirement in service. And they spend a lot of their time stationary, which they can do until they run out of fuel without the avionics etc overheating. That’s far more important.

My house is on some kind of military flight path so see them quite often.



At one point they were practicing following me (and my dog!) from different angles. Human target practice?

They can target you from miles away, in any conditions, so not really a challenge if you can see them

May not be now but they spent a fair amount of time chasing the MERT Chinook around in Afghan!

Over the summer I was in London for a few days and saw a couple of AH64s flying quite low over the city. I also saw another one circling Greenwich when I was there. Is it normal procedure to have attack helicopters quartering the capital city?

Not at all. They were rogue pilots checking out potential bank robbery targets. Three or four Hellfires should get the vault open. Were there troops on the ground in battered looking black Range Rovers?

they were a LOT lower than that over our house last night
