Finally, after nearly 10 years since leaving Cunard's service, the ship is now open as a hotel & spa. OK, so it's been open for half a year now, but I've just got back from a trip there and it turned out to be one of the best value rooms in town, and a unique place to stay. It's not exactly pristine, and you have to accept that the decor is true to the ship rather than contemporary, but I'd rather have her being that than a million disposable razor blades!

Only these....

I really should have taken more, but my iPhone is on it's last legs and I wanted to save some memory to get pics at the Grand Prix! wink

It's a phased re-opening. Currently there's 200 and something rooms (cabins) that are usable, phase II will release a further 600+. There is a tour that's open to guests and day visitors. Being a boaty type I was hoping it would encompass some of the engineering zones and the bridge, but no.

Stayed on her for the wedding anniversary this year and saw Jack Pack perform onboard. A great weekend.

She has been "refurbished" on renovated to try and keep some the old school charm.

Booking.com sometimes has rates of GBP 60 per night inc.breakfast.

Mrs Fat Fairy and I did Friday Brunch the other day. It was pretty good. They even did us a 'missed anniversary' cake.

Stayed over in one of the 'Superior DeLux' rooms. Very nice too.

We did the tour. I was hoping to get round the engineering spaces too. Maybe later....
