Sikorsky-Boeing #SB1 Defiant Completes First Flight
Discussion
So a top speed of almost 300mph. Impressive. Presumably due to the contra-rotating rotor it’s able to maintain equal lift across the rotor at high forward airspeed. But at the same time keep the rotor rpm low enough so as to not exceed supersonic airflow over the advancing blade, and being able to tolerate retreating blade stall (or even reverse flow) without any ill effects.
Is the pusher prop primarily to improve acceleration and deceleration without having to pitch the aircraft, or does it have other advantages?

It'll be interesting to see how this develops, and what the intended uses for the platform are.
