If that's true then it is very good news. I was starting to think there were problems as some changes were made last week to the itinerary for 4-8-8-4 no.844 which was originally intended to move from Cheyenne to Ogden, Utah, this week, This was changed to the two engines going together leaving tomorrow - it was starting to look like UP might have to tow 4014 to Ogden...https://jalopnik.com/people-are-very-excited-about...
I've been keeping an unhealthy interest in this because I'll be going over to Ogden to see for myself. Leaving LHR on Tuesday

Hornby/Rivarossi are releasing a modle of it. https://www.hornby.com/uk-en/news/the-engine-shed/... Even at 1:76 its 475mm long.
I'm sure I read the cost was estimated to be around the $14m mark, I don't know what the UP annual advertising budget is but the free publicity they've had from this must be enormous. I remember watching a clip of 4014 being dragged back to Cheyanne at the start, the crowds turning out were huge and thats without a wiff of steam in sight.
The move from Cheyenne has begun. A video posted an hour or so ago shows 4014 and 844 presumably at Cheyenne.

On their way from Cheyenne to Ogden
Point of Rocks earlier today (or yesterday!)
The engines are scheduled to be given a Rest Day tomorrow at Evanston, and do the remaining three or so hours to Ogden on Wednesday morning,
I should at least be in the right country to see them by then

Congratulations to UP for making this happen. I've been following progress since they announced their intent, and started surveying the existing machines to select an example for restoration.
I visited the National Railroad Museum in Green Bay a few years ago where 4017 lives. I was blown away by the scale of these locomotives. I mean, I knew they were big, but nothing prepares you for the enormity of it. The cab/footplate space is as big as my kitchen!!

I'm tempted to go over and see 4014 in steam at some point.
