I fly for work quite a bit these days, on top of regular holidays it's meaning about 6-8 transatlantic return trips a year.

I have gotten into the (weird?) habit, of half watching movies on other peoples personal screens from my own seat, in silence, just whatever happens to be in my eyeline from where i'm sitting. i've half watched large chunks of films I both have and haven't seen before, can't really give a good reason why!!

I don't always feel like watching movies on my own screen, usually just due to tiredness, not finding anything i particularly want to watch, or having my mind on other things... but it certainly seems to be becoming an odd habit!!

Watched pretty much all of "Alpha" in one of these situations, which as a largely dialogue-free film, worked quite well.

Anyone else?!

Not creepy at all. But does reminds me of like getting your moneys worth McDonald's campaign. Do you also like hot tubs and have pampas grass in your front garden.

I do a lot of short haul trips with work but tend to download TV box sets to my iPhone. I normally have to use Amsterdam as a hub so an hour or so there then an hour or so onto the destination. Not enough time to fit a decent movie in but just enough for a 45 min / 1 hour show. It would drive me mad watching someone else's screen without hearing what was going on. I also read, slowly. In an hour flight I can fit about 15 minutes of reading in before getting bored and getting my screen out.

Ha, i had never really considered the creepy angle.. i used to take the window seat so that I could gaze out of the window, but then switched to aisle seats after one too many times trying to climb over sleeping passengers so I could use the facilities.

It's mostly boredom I think, i find flying alone fairly tedious.

I don't do it on purpose but since my head nearly always comes up above the "head" rest on most airline seats, I can get a pretty good look at what some people are watching when I look around.

A woman in the seat in front was holding her Kindle directly in front of her face on a recent flight, quite a strange reading posture I thought. She was reading "Fifty Shades" in a large font. Clearly my eyes saw the word "nipples" before my brain had fully caught up with it but there I was, keeping up with whatever she was reading.

Since then I've done my best to remember my headphones on short haul flights.

So you put the headphones over your eyes laugh Interesting strategy smile

It has a dual effect - I can't see other people, and everyone else thinks I'm the kind of person you wouldn't want to get too close to...
