Boka Vanguard, Cornwall
Discussion
The heavy lifting vessel the Boka Vanguard is currently at anchor in Mounts bay.
Some drone footage has been uploaded on youtube and its rather good.
Anyone know what she is up to ? is she waiting for something in Falmouth ?

She's off across the Atlantic to the Bahamas to be used as a floating dock for the Carnival Vista.

That's very very clever. Well, it's not, it's basic physics, but very cleverly applied!
What happened to the Vista?
Just a regular docking/inspection/overhaul period I guess - with the increase in cruise ship numbers, capacity at some docks must be stretched, so this allows a bit more space in the yard. What happened to the Vista?
There was a crane collapse at the Grand Bahamas dockyard earlier this year, so not sure if that has impacted on the yard's capacity either.

Having a repair to her Azipods. Seems to be an ongoing issue
Bearing issue apparently, costly stuff to put it into dry dock for a few weeks to get it sorted!https://www.hydro-international.com/content/news/b...

We finally made to lift the Vista out of the water 🌊 Operations started this morning at 4 a.m. when we manage to leave the dock in Freeport. We sailed the Vista off the harbor and we approached the Boka Vanguard at dawn. ☀️ Boka was already submerged for approx 30 mt below the sea level. We made fast few tug boats which helped us in steadying the ship’s head and sowly, using our own propulsion, we gently slipped onto the vessel, in between of her quarter decks. Once in position, Boka started deballasting her tanks and we finally laid on the timber planks, eventually getting out of the water. Next step will see the complex of the two ships (BOKA+Vista ) moving slowly back into the harbor where we will dock and we’ll start our repair operations.⚙️🔨 This is a great achievement, both for us and for Boka team, since this is the longest ship
Ever lifted we had to Work out a lot in preparing everything in just few weeks 🏆“
