Had the privilege of watching a B52 flying only a few hundred feet directly overhead on its way to an emergency landing at Mildenhall on Monday evening having lost 2 engines.
Fortunately it made a safe landing but it was an awesome sight and the noise from the remaining engines was deafening.
I didn't realise how big those things are. We get a lot of planes going over from Stansted and others heading to Mildenhall and Lakenheath but this was something else.

It’s still there. Apparently suffered wing damage and there is talk of it possibly being unrepairable and therefore scrapped.
I'd love to know how these sort of updates get out to the public. I bet in reality there's only a handful of people who know the state of the aircraft and it's future.eccles said:

Structural repairs take time, if it's not standard the repair has to get drawn up which will probably take a few weeks, then you have to get a team in to do the work..... so yes it takes time, but it certainly doesn't necessarily mean it's been written off and will be scrapped!

There's a huge difference between it's got a bit of damage on the wing to the thing being written off!

Sure, I’ve no idea about the aircraft, I’m just showing how news could get out that might actually be very accurate.Structural repairs take time, if it's not standard the repair has to get drawn up which will probably take a few weeks, then you have to get a team in to do the work..... so yes it takes time, but it certainly doesn't necessarily mean it's been written off and will be scrapped!
