Anyone from PH going this year?

I'll be there (1st time) on both Saturday and Sunday.

Had thought of going but it was a toss up between Flying Legends and the Military Air Show at Old Warden last weekend. Old Warden won (O/H's favourite venue) and what a great day it was; seven Hurricanes plus the best display I've seen in many years by the Royal Jordanian Falcons.

Flying Legends will have to wait until another year.

I've always avoided Duxford purely because of the traffic nightmare

That's why I'm staying at a campsite in Cambridge and cycling to the event.

I’ll be there tomorrow, aiming to arrive by car at 8am. Fingers crossed traffic conditions are reasonable.

Haven’t been for a few years, looking forward to it.

22nd year in a row tomorrow. Can't wait, for me it's the best air show of the year. A bit gutted that there's no Hurricanes, however 16 Spitfires and 5 109s should be good. The years of everything turning up from every country have long gone regardless of what air show you go to so I'm happy with the turn out. Haven't had an issue with traffic for a few years now, I think the last time was a hen party (so completely separate to the event) wrecking on the motorway home. Always well marshalled leaving the event.

Just sitting in the car park having a cup of tea. Great day, and a great show as usual. Traffic no issue at all, arrived 9:30.

Had a great day today. All those Buchons made quite a sight. Also enjoyed those early Curtiss fighters. Going again tomorrow. The weather could do with brightening up though.

Did they manage to get the DH9 going today? Was hoping to see it stared with the car gear yesterday but they announced it was u/s.

The DH9 was also expected at Old Warden last weekend but was a no-show there too; a pity as I was looking forward to seeing it.

They did get it started. Apparently there’s a known issue with the carbs thats solved with a big hammer. They didn’t have a big enough hammer on the Saturday!

Had a really great day out, fantastic show!

Here are a few of my pics from Saturday (weather wasn't great for pictures). Really enjoyed it though.

Single seater - yes.

Two seater no.

Note that the two seater has a four blade prop. It also sounded very different.

Thanks! I rented a 100 - 400 lens for the weekend. I’m happy with the results, although the pictures I posted are via Facebook, so they’re very compressed.

The Pratt& Whitney R2800 powered one was trailing a lot of smoke on its practice display on Friday. You can see oil on the side of the fuselage in the shot below. No idea if that's normal behaviour for that engine?
