Man who threw 'lucky' coins into plane engine fined https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-50979485

Not so lucky, given the conviction and costs. In what strange way is throwing coins into a jet engine considered lucky?

In the same strange way as a four leaf clover, saying "break a leg" or throwing a coin into a fountain is considered lucky.

It stems from making an offering to the gods, I guess.

If the engine doesn't break it must be a lucky engine.

I once had money in my MK2 Astra engine. One of the core plugs started leaking whilst I was away from home so I Araldited a 2 pence piece over it. It was still there when I sold it 1 1/2 years later. I couldn't get the bugg*r out.

Dont tell Ryanair, will feel like they are missing out and install baskets in the engine cowls just in case.
