If it's not a commercial airliner, it's one of their own ships!

That article manages to say battleship, destroyer, patrol boat and frigate!

Turns out it was a frigate shooting a general support ship.

Sounds awful. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-middle-east-52612...

Support ship tows target into position for exercise, gets hit instead of target.

No matter what your opinion of the Iranian regime, no-one should be dying like that at work. RIP those sailors and sympathy to their families and injured colleagues. Terrible way to go... frown

One thing the Iranians seem to be is consistent. It's only a few weeks ago that they shot down one of their own airliners.

it's a difficult one tbh - on the face of it I do agree with you, however, my (very poor!) understanding of it has the regime as not being a whole lot of steps removed from pre-war Germany. If it'd have been a bunch of Nazis met the same fate would we be saying the same?

Please note this it NOT intended to be provocative, I'm genuinely curious and curious about how the current regime is in reality...

Looking at the size and light build of the Konarak I would also add that their new anti-ship missile is a failure.

It is indeed a tragic loss of life.

How to indicate that you're incompetent and irresponsible at every level. (1) Choose to conduct a live fire missile exercise in spitting distance of one of the world's busiest and most disputed waterways. (2) Demonstrate that you can't control what the missile hits.

I work with a few Iranians... All of them are lovely people.

The ones that were killed were likely no different to our 20 something matelots.

I doubt very much the ones responsible for this epic screw up were remotely near the pointy end.

Yep, & then blame the crew of the ship that got hit for "not being far enough away"...

Absolutely no question at all IMO
