Out for a stroll along the beach today, when I noticed a rather good looking RIB heading towards the shore. As it approached the beach, I thought that if he doesnt stop soon, he will probably ground it. Anyway, he reached the shoreline and just kept going, rising out of the water and standing proudly on the beach on a set of caterpillar tracks. One of the chaps jumped out, ran across the beach and opened some rather large gates that lead to a stupidly big and expensive house. Climbed back into the RIB and trundled across the beach and away.

Sorry for the poor photo quality, but I had to zoom the phone in quite a bit due to the distance. I presume such a toy is eye wateringly expensive.

The caterpillar tracks look rather cumbersome.
This is a far more common arrangement by a company called 'Sealegs'

Where he went wrong is that he should have had electric gates fitted...

I have seen the ones with wheels before, but not sure how good they are at crossing loose stones.

The tracks on this one look like they retract into pockets either side of the hull so not likely to cause much drag.

It would appear to be an Iguana Expedition and the price begins with a 4. eek

Looks in no way like something that is going to break in the most inconvenient way possible

That is very cool. How do the ones with the wheels work? Is there a button to release them down?

Agreed !

Wasn't there a chap built a house on Grand Designs on the IoW with this RIB set up ?
They must be pretty compromised from a 'boat' perspective ....
