Don't do it. My friend has a harrier and a phantom in their garden and all it does is attract bird poo.

Did your wife take the photo of the road sign too? I assume you mean Chabanais?

ETA. Sorry, that sounded snippy. Not intended.

Anyway, isn't the fire engine bloke on that road somewhere? He's in the vicinity of Saint Maurice IIRC. Anything to do with him?

Can't really see what it is. Somebody above says it's a P-47 but it might as well be a dog kennel. Any chance of a bigger picture?

That's an odd looking P47. Replica?

That's better. It's definitely a replica. The canopy is out of proportion to the fuselage so I reckon it is a flying replica - although whether it's currently flyable would be open to question.

There was me thinking someone might have a real P47D floating about in their front yard. wink

I must admit I don't really 'get' having aircraft as garden ornaments. It's not even as if they degrade gracefully. They just look more and more depressing until they inevitably get taken away for scrap.

There are plenty of smaller scale replicas of World War 2 fighter aircraft.

Isaacs Spitfire -

Titan T-51

P-47

If you just consider it for what it is, it's a pretty little thing.

I love warbirds but they just remind me of those awful shrunken Mk2 Jag 'replica' things you see from time to time.

I'd like an EE Lightning in the garden but suspect it might be a relationship ending move. It will remain in that dream bachelor pad fantasy.
