I'll begin this with the wonderful Lockheed L1329 Jetstar which entered commercial service in 1961. This being the only 4 engined production executive jet ever manufactured and is a beautiful thing!

The Jetstar was not quite the only four engined executive jet design - but at least it did go into production.

The original British HS125. This type was used by the British Military as well as being very popular in North America from the early 60's.

They are so noisy. Heaps of them around Genoa.

Sometimes.........

This is the rather less tasteful interior of one of the two Jetstar's owned by Elvis Presley, which has been sitting out in the desert gradually deteriorating for nearly 40 years.

His other Jetstar is on display at Graceland.

Jetstars and caravelles are beautiful
Inmy spotting days we went stansted and there was loadsof dc8 or 707s kitted out as private jets,
We got in one and it had gold taps
I think they were having quieter engines fitted

I can't really think that there were too many executive DC-8s. There were some 707s and 720s - although they tended to be used by governments or for hire by rock groups.

Boeing 720 being used by Led Zeppelin -

and the Bee Gees -

Chemical company Ely Lilly operated this 707 -

I like the 747SP -

That's quite tasteful compared to some of the aircraft I've worked on (727, 707, L1011 and 747). Most of them were either owned or rented by people of a middle eastern origin, where vibrating double beds with mink bedspreads were common, every fitting in the bathrooms were gold and Onyx, thick, plush carpets. Some of these aircraft were just leased out to rock groups or people like Alan Wicker, but the one thing in common was the rather tasteless interiors.

I got onboard N792AA at Orlando International Airport in 1996. (Only have pics on good old-fashioned prints!) The guy was Chuck Yager's co-pilot and was very enthusiastic about his "bird"! Sadly Chuck himself wasn't there...!

N792AA registration actually refers to it's previous owner Andre Agassi who won Wimbleton Tennis tournament in July 1992!
Planes have personalized registrations too!

Personal favourite of mine, courtesy of Mr Bill Lear, perhaps the father of the biz jet - "no one stands up in a Cadillac" smile

Yes, the Learjet in all it's variants is a cool plane. Pre 35's must be getting very rare now!
