Many Spitfires - including Spirit of Kent, and the ‘Greek Spitfire’ both shown in the Channel 4 show - originally came from the Castle Bromwich factory in Birmingham where my grandmother helped make the ailerons. The spirit of the nice kipper tie runs deep in most Spits.

Windscreens came from the Triplex factory in Kings Norton, Birmingham where I worked for 20 odd years since 1974

Nothing - I thought that would have been the best place to ask your question as that thread was about the programme "Inside The Spitfire Factory" and had already attracted a reasonable number of posts.

Having two or more threads on the same general topic undermines and dilutes both threads, I think.

I wonder what it would cost to manufacture a new main undercarriage leg?

Depends on the mark-up. I'm sure a new one would be priced at around £15,000 to buy as that seems to be the going rate.

The clock on the Barracuda was probable the best part of the Barracuda.

It's certainly the best bit as far as I'm concerned. A lot of luminous paint on it though, it's only stopped glowing fairly recently.
